Our Cost Engineering department is critical to the management of Project costs and resources. This role is a new prospect for an
Electrical Estimator
to work collaboratively as part of a large, national, multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be committed to successful outcomes for our clients, enthusiastic about challenges and committed to continuously learning and developing.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and prepare accurate detailed cost estimates, including materials, Labour, equipment, and overheads by first principle for electrical infrastructure, including HV/LV electrical plant, equipment, HV substations, overhead and underground power cable systems, solar farms, and BESS.
Prepare and review Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and quantity take-off as required
Review and analyse third-party estimates and tender submissions for accuracy, scope alignment, competitiveness and prepare estimate review report (Consultant Advise Report)
Review and interpret technical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and scopes of work to fully understand tender requirements and identify project-specific complexities
Engage with suppliers and subcontractors, building strong relationships and securing accurate, competitive pricing across a range of materials and services
Prepare comprehensive estimate assumption lists, including but not limited to the Basis of Estimate Plans and Estimate (BOE) report for client submission
Maintain and enhance internal pricing databases, labour and equipment rates, and benchmarking systems to support ongoing estimating efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Estimator within Mining, Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater/ Utilities projects, solar farms, and/or BESS projects
Tertiary education in Electrical Engineering or Construction, or trade qualified as an electrician
Experience with Expert Estimation (Genesis) estimating software package (preferred not essential)
Experience with and understanding of AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) estimating standards
Experience in electrical estimating across various project stages, including Order of Magnitude (OoM), Pre-Feasibility (PFS), and Feasibility (FS), with a strong understanding of associated work methodologies
