Healthcare Professional - Mental Health Services for Older Adults
The centre provides comprehensive care for elderly patients with mental health issues, often associated with age-related frailty or comorbid dementia. It serves as a referral centre for individuals with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). The range of interventions includes restorative, palliative, and terminal care.
A multidisciplinary team consisting of Old Age Psychiatrists, psychiatry registrars, senior nurses with general and psychiatric training, care assistants, enrolled nurses, and general nurses provide the care. The team has an enhanced leadership structure.
We are seeking a General Practitioner to deliver primary healthcare services to inpatients under the Older Persons Mental Health Service. Responsibilities include vaccinations, managing incidental illnesses, chronic and complex conditions, and providing palliative and terminal care.
* Implement evidence-based practices adhering to contemporary standards and policies relevant to OPMHS.
* Recent experience in an older person's mental health setting is essential.
* A strong foundation in risk assessment and management for older clients with mental health, dementia, or physical health issues is necessary.
* Candidates must possess the capacity for independent clinical judgment, collaboration within a team, and providing clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
