This isn't just a gardening role; it is a leadership position responsible for the \"life support system\" of our butterflies. Why Join the CaPTA Group?

- Group Perks: Generous discounts across all CaPTA attractions and participation in industry familiarisation trips.

- Support: Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

The Role: Horticulture Excellence & Operational Oversight

Reporting to the Park Manager, you will be the driving force behind the health, presentation, and sustainability of the sanctuary. You will lead a dedicated horticulture team and oversee our part-time maintenance function to ensure the entire park is safe and seamless.

Key Responsibilities

- Plant Forecasting: Manage the nursery to grow and source host and nectar plants, ensuring a consistent supply to meet year-round demand.

- Pest Management: Monitor for pests and diseases using organic Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.

- Team Management: Lead, coach, and roster garden staff, facilitating toolbox meetings and supporting staff development.

Maintenance Oversight

- Departmental Coordination: Provide oversight for the maintenance department (1 person, 3 days per week) to ensure park repairs and facilities are managed efficiently.

- Asset Care: Ensure garden tools, machinery, and general park equipment are serviced and in good working order.

- Project Support: Coordinate minor landscaping and yard repair tasks to maintain the sanctuary’s premium aesthetic.

Sustainability & Safety

- Resource Management: Lead initiatives in composting, waste reduction, and water efficiency.

- WHS Leadership: Model safe work behaviours, complete risk assessments, and ensure the safe storage of all garden and maintenance inputs.

The Ideal Leader

We are seeking a motivated individual who thrives in a tropical outdoor environment and takes pride in \"behind-the-scenes\" excellence.

- Experience: Demonstrated background in horticulture or garden management (supervisory experience is essential).

- Leadership: Ability to lead a small, diverse team and coordinate between departments like the Lab and Guest Services.

- Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of organic gardening principles and intermediate computer literacy (Excel, SharePoint, Office 365).

- Licensing: A current Australian Driver’s Licence is required.

- Attitude: A proactive, solution-oriented mindset that aligns with our CaPTAv8 Culture.

Position Details:
