* Manage a portfolio of Australian clients and ensure timely delivery of tax and compliance work.
* Prepare and review financial statements and Australian income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
* Prepare and review BAS, IAS, and other ATO compliance obligations.
* Communicate directly with clients to request information, respond to queries, and provide updates.
* Manage the flow of information between clients and the firm to ensure work progresses efficiently.
* Review compliance work prepared by junior accountants and provide guidance where required.
* Research and interpret Australian tax legislation, ATO rulings, and regulatory requirements.
* Assist clients with general accounting and tax compliance queries.
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and workflow efficiency.
* Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and client service.
Requirements
* 4–7+ years experience in Australian tax compliance or public practice accounting.
* Strong experience preparing financial statements and Australian tax returns (companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals).
* Experience preparing and reviewing BAS/IAS and managing ATO compliance deadlines.
* Strong understanding of Australian taxation legislation and ATO processes.
* Experience reviewing work and supporting junior accountants.
* Proficiency in accounting and practice management systems including Xero, Zoho, ATO Portal, QuickBooks, and MYOB.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for working directly with clients.
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) preferred.
