This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment; however, this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity
The Engagement Assistant Director is a key leadership position within the Group/Branch Leadership Team. The role involves people, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities. They manage employees and contribute to overall branch performance.
The role involves nurturing and managing a range of key internal and external stakeholder relationships and networks. They have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a wide range of activities.
The Engagement Assistant Director works with a considerable degree of independence under broad direction from the Director. They may undertake management or oversight of projects for the branch or work with larger projects for the Agency. They support the development of Group strategic plans, business cases, and project plans for improvement initiatives.
The role provides expertise across a broad range of activities including corporate services and administration, project management, community and partner engagement, and culture. This role may include some or all of the following duties:

Our ideal EL 1 candidate will demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:
* Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or relevant work experience would be desirable.
* A current Australian driver's license is a requirement.
Identified Position
This position is identified, signifying strong involvement in matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The role involves direct engagement with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and service providers, or participation in the development of programmes and policies. You will require a high level of cultural competency.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check.
