Tasmanian Oyster Co is Australia's largest vertically integrated Pacific Oyster company, with sites across Tasmania and South Australia. We are committed to being the leader in sustainable oyster production, striving for best practice and continuous improvement. 
We are currently looking for a General Manager - Hatchery and R&D; to join our team, based in South-eastern Tasmania. 
About the role 
This role is responsible for leading the company in scientific research and development - leading investigations into specie diversification, collaborating with academic and private institutions and seeking out international and interstate opportunities in relation to breeding and aquatic science. 
The role is also responsible for overseeing the operation of our bio-secure Pipeclay Lagoon hatchery, supporting the Hatchery Manager who is responsible for the day-to-day operations, and for collaborating and providing support to our interstate based breeding and hatchery operations. 
About you 
The qualifications, experience, and attributes you'll need to be successful in this role are: 
Highly developed understanding of marine biology (shellfish or other) 
The ability to help shape and drive strategic plans 
Strong project management, planning and execution skills 
Excellent leadership experience 
The ability to build relationships, relate well and collaborate with stakeholders across the business and industry-wide 
Good business acumen, including an understanding of budgets, operational and capital expenditure, cash flow etc 
Eligible to work in Australia
