OverviewScope of Work WHSE Officer Level 3 (Advanced Practitioner)Location: HSPO, CairnsClearance Level: BaselineSkillset: TBARoleA Workplace Health, Safety & Environmental Officer is required within the HSPO for 3 months with an option of 2 x 3 months, under broad direction to support the HSPO Director through the provision of complex work health, safety and environmental work within an integrated workforce.
They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defences mission and policy requirements.ResponsibilitiesAccountable for research and analysis activities to identify and address work health and safety risks to capability.Develop and implement work health and safety programs.Provide advice on the application of work health and safety legislation and Defence policies and procedures.Contribute to implementation and continuous improvement of work health and safety management systems in accordance with legislation and Defence policies.Engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues.Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve work health and safety issues.Evaluate activities and processes for compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.Resolve problems using skilled expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for work health and safety activities.Experience / Skills SoughtStrategic forward planning and innovationExperience/ability in working at a fast pace and multi-tasking to manage and prioritise tasks and workloads.WHSE service with a positive attitude and supportive natureAchieving results in Work Health and Safety delivery within the Maritime district able to ensure they can manage workflow and resources whilst working in a dynamic and busy environment.
