About The Role
The Management Accounting & Analysis Coordinator sits within Council's Finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager and leading the delivery of strategic financial management, business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting services across the organisation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing Council's management accounting function and long‐term financial planning framework, while supporting Executive leadership and business units through clear financial insights, analysis, and strategic advice.
Leading a team of four direct reports including Finance Business Partners, an Asset Accountant, and a Systems Accountant, this role combines technical finance leadership with stakeholder engagement, coaching, and organisational influence.
Core technical capability is essential. The role oversees budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, long‐term financial planning, and financial performance analysis, ensuring strong governance, financial discipline, and informed decision‐making across Council.
Beyond the technical requirements, this role is heavily focused on business partnering and leadership uplift.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial accountability and embedding a customer‐focused finance partnering model across the organisation. This includes presenting financial insights and recommendations to Executives and Managers, improving reporting and analytics capability, and driving continuous improvement across systems, dashboards, and financial processes.
Leadership capability will be critical. The team is capable and well established, with an opportunity for the incoming leader to continue developing capability, foster strategic thinking, and empower the team to operate at the next level.
This role requires someone who can operate strategically while remaining approachable and hands on when required.
The environment will suit a confident and collaborative leader who can build credibility quickly, influence stakeholders, and lead through trust.

You are commercially minded, proactive, and motivated by continuous improvement. You enjoy partnering with stakeholders, identifying opportunities to improve reporting and processes, and helping organisations strengthen financial performance and accountability.
Your leadership style is collaborative, empowering, and people focused. You know how to build trust, develop capability, and create accountability within teams while giving people the autonomy to succeed.
You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills and are comfortable presenting to Executive leadership, Managers, and broader business units. You can balance strategic thinking with operational delivery and are capable of navigating a fast‐paced and highly regulated environment.
