ABOUT THE ROLE
The Underground Technician you will be responsible for the mark up, geological sampling, data collection and dispatch of Underground geological samples, ensuring the best quality of ore is being maximized from NGF's Underground operations, whiles providing administrative and logistical support to the Underground Geology Team.
Candidates must have a minimum of 1-2 years underground mining experience to be considered for this Underground Technician position.
KEY DUTIES AND TASKS
Supporting geological activities including sample collection underground, face mapping and marking up of ore structures
Previous geological sampling experience is required for this role.
Assist Geologists with recording geological data using specialised software and tools
Support drilling programmes – you will be involved in the processing of drill core which will include meter marking, core orientation, photographing, cutting, and sampling, in addition to other tasks from time to time.
Coordinate sample delivery to the lab
Monitoring of ore mining to minimise ore loss and dilution.
REQUIREMENT ESSENTIAL
Strong attention to detail and safety
National Police Clearance
Able to pass Pre-employment medical
REQUIREMENTS PREFERRED
Current approved and recognised forklift ticket (desirable)
Good communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work in both a team environment, as well as confident working independently
Good organisational skills and ability to self-manage workload
Confident computer skills with Microsoft Office programs, in particular Excel and Word, and a willingness to increase your computer skills where required.
