However, the incumbent will have the opportunity to be involved in academic and teaching activities in close association with Deakin University academic and teaching staff.Your key accountabilities will be:Assume clinical responsibility for patients under direct care; ward rounds will be conducted as needed, generally on a daily basis.Conduct outpatient clinics.Supervise the clinical care provided by Registrars/Hospital Medical Officers involved in the care of cardiology patients.Review existing practices and promote change based on evidence or if other change is required.Ensure that patients and families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow-up.Develop effective communication with and be receptive to patients, relatives, and peer groups.Support multidisciplinary teamwork.Provide advice to and liaise with staff from other units as required.Participate in the Unit quality activities program, including audits, review of deaths, and analysis of relevant clinical and key performance indicators (KPIs).Attend Unit meetings as necessary.Assist in developing and implementing clinical pathways and protocols where appropriate.Assist in resolving patient and relative complaints.Academic/Teaching responsibilities include:Comply with personal continuing education activities as outlined by RACP and/or other relevant professional bodies.What's on offer for you?Attractive remuneration package: Base salary up to AUD$477,500 plus generous shift penalties (dependent upon years of service).Relocation assistance for appropriate candidates, salary packaging, generous study leave, and professional development opportunities.Meals & entertainment, novated leasing, and additional superannuation contributions.Internal and external professional development opportunities.Ongoing clinical supervision.A range of internal development programs focusing on personal growth, resilience, mentoring, and leadership.Essential CriteriaApplicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent overseas-trained specialist who has completed training in the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or New Zealand.RACP outcome must be placed with a decision of substantially comparable full scope of practice to that of an Australian-trained specialist.The HospitalSouth West Healthcare offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and psychiatric services.
