Role Overview
The Disability Justice Coordinator supports people with a disability who are involved in the criminal justice system, assessing and coordinating forensic disability supports based on their needs, risks, and goals. The Coordinator advocates for support through universal service systems, helps clients understand court processes, and facilitates access to interventions to reduce re‐offending risk and improve quality of life.
The Coordinator seeks to maximise the client's access to the NDIS through advocacy and liaison with the National Disability Insurance Agency and NDIS service providers to meet forensic disability needs.
Accountabilities
* Coordinate support and services for clients, providing a comprehensive approach to decreasing the likelihood of re‐offending.
* Conduct complex assessments, implement and review justice-based plans and reports, set goals, monitor progress, and make referrals.
* Operate in accordance with legislation and departmental standards, exercising appropriate authorities and legal delegations.
Role Conditions
This is an NDIS Risk Assessed Role and a Key Personnel Role. Staff will not commence until they have an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and have provided the necessary details. The role also requires a Working with Children Check, which can be obtained through the Victorian government website.
