**Your New Role**
As **Technical Operations Coordinator**, you will be at the forefront of managing day-to-day operations for laboratories, workshops, and research facilities, ensuring optimal resource allocation for Metallurgical Engineering and Mining Engineering activities. You will lead a dedicated team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment through mentorship, training, and performance management.
An exciting aspect of this role is your involvement in the development of Curtin's** state-of-the-art Pyrometallurgical facility**. This multi-million-dollar project will be a major asset to the WASM Campus, and you will play a key role in its delivery.
Your responsibilities will extend beyond operational oversight to include resource planning, staff coordination, safety compliance, and the development of standard operating procedures. You will also work closely with the **Technical Operations Manager (TOM), Kalgoorlie Campus Director** and **Head of School (HOS)** to ensure that the team's objectives align with the needs of the school, and that health and safety regulations are consistently upheld.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Coordinate daily operations** across workshops, laboratories, and research facilities to optimise resources and space for teaching and research projects.
- **Lead and mentor a team** of technical staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment while promoting ongoing professional development.
- Ensure **compliance with occupational health and safety regulations**, enforcing safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Oversee the **maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment** and technical facilities.
- Develop, implement, and continuously update **standard operating procedures** for laboratory and workshop operations.
- Collaborate with faculty members, students, and external suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of teaching and research projects.
- Contribute to the **design, modification, and refurbishment** of technical facilities and equipment to support current and future operational needs.
- Play a lead role in the **development of new equipment and systems**, ensuring safety, functionality, and alignment with operational goals.
- Manage access control, coordinate inductions, and liaise with security to ensure compliance with safety and access protocols for restricted areas.
**Who You Are**
We are looking for a **proactive and dynamic** leader with a strong background in technical operations or laboratory management. You will have a passion for safety, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- A relevant degree in **Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy,** or a related field, or substantial experience in a technical or laboratory management role.
- Proven experience in **leading and managing teams** within technical or laboratory settings, with a focus on developing staff and fostering a positive work environment.
- Expertise in the **operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment**, with a strong commitment to health and safety compliance.
- Exceptional **organisational skills,** with a keen ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
- Strong **communication and interpersonal skills**, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
