Job Description
Lead the entire Electrical & Instrumentation Controls (E&IC) scope for major projects. Manage international commissioning teams and $6-8M capital projects. Competitive salary, equity pathway, and full design authority.
Role Overview We seek a leader who can manage the entire Electrical & Instrumentation Controls (E&IC) function. Serving as the electrical counterpart to the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Mechanical and Process Engineering Managers to deliver fully integrated modular mining systems.
This position is heavily design-focused, requiring you to approve and assess drafts while maintaining the company's IP. You will act as a long-term business partner with a pathway to equity with our client. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Project Management: Department Leadership: Lead the full E&IC function, including design, specification, procurement, and contractor oversight. Project Delivery: Manage engineering project teams and oversee projects valued at $6-8 million, ensuring budgets and schedules are met.
Contractor Management: Act as the EPCM consultant review authority, managing OEMs and consulting with local contractors. International Commissioning: Ultimately manage the commissioning team in Taiwan, ensuring seamless integration and site acceptance. Office Presence: This is a key leadership role requiring 5 days in the office to drive team culture and collaboration.
Technical Design & Automation: Architecture & Design: Develop PLC/HMI/SCADA architectures and produce FDS, control philosophies, and network diagrams. Instrumentation: Specify all instrumentation (flow, pressure, level, temperature) and provide technical guidance on selection.
Panel & Power: Oversee control panel design, MCC interfaces, and PLC cabinet layouts ensuring compliance with AS/NZS and mining standards. Programming Oversight: Lead PLC programming and loop tuning efforts, ensuring robust automation standards are maintained. Commissioning & Integration:
Global Commissioning Management: Ultimately manage the commissioning team situated in Taiwan, ensuring successful site integration and startup. Quality Assurance: Lead FAT, SAT, and commissioning plans, ensuring troubleshooting and loop tuning are executed to standard Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 8-12+ years in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial automation. Technical Expertise: Must possess thorough expertise with Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation systems. Design Focus: Strong background in design review, instrumentation, and electrical integration.
Commercial Acumen: Confident leading E&IC cost control, procurement, and contractor management. Leadership: Ability to work at both leadership and hands-on technical levels to mentor a growing team. Qualifications (Highly Regarded): RPEQ, CPEng certification, or eligibility is desirable.
Specialist Experience: Experience with lithium, gold, copper, or desalination/process water plants is preferred. Salary & Work Rights $190K - $210K + Super
