The Role

* Do you have a passion for problem solving?
* Do you want to hone your audit, assurance and improvement skills in a technically complex environment?

As an APS 6 Quality Management Officer, working in Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group in the Department of Defence, you will be working alongside some of the most exciting and complex guided weapons used by the Australian Defence Force.

You will spend your days :

* Developing, managing, conducting and reporting internal technical audits and quality assurance activities in accordance with the AS / NZS ISO9001 Quality Management System, regulatory requirements and international partner agreements.
* Providing Quality Management advice to stakeholders.
* Enabling the critical delivery of guided weapons into inventory through the provision of accurate and timely assurance advice.

There may be the opportunity for some domestic business travel associated with this position.

Note : This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Our Team

The Quality Management System Team (QMST) is an integral part of the Corporate Performance Directorate within Guided Weapons Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group Business Support Services (BSS). Our team are located in Canberra, Penrith and Rockingham (HMAS Stirling).

We are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Quality Management System, including the management of :

* Internal audit and assurance
* Control of documented information
* Non-conformity and continual improvement

The right person for this role will be a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with a thorough understanding of quality management principles. With experience working within Technical processes under broad direction. You will be able to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility when responding to the needs of stakeholders, leveraging your ability to communicate (both verbally and written) clearly and with influence.

You will enjoy working in a team to come together and excel in order to achieve organisational objectives, provide tactical and strategic level assurance, whilst continuing to pursue your own self-development goals.
