Position Overview
The Gardener / Maintenance role is integral to the Corporate Services team, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds at various Mulungu sites in Mareeba. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that our facilities are not only functional but also inviting for all community members.
You will be tasked with a variety of yard duties, including lawn maintenance, plant care, and equipment operation. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help us maintain a high standard of groundskeeping, contributing to a pleasant environment for our clients and staff.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual who has a passion for gardening and maintaining outdoor spaces.
* Possession of a current manual Class C Drivers License.
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Proficient in the operation and maintenance of gardening equipment.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to adhere to workplace health and safety regulations.
* Ability to work between the hours of 7am & 7pm & weekends as required.
* Possession of Working with Children (Blue Card) or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
* Possession of current Australian Federal Police Check (within the last 6 months) or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. A commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to organizational policies and standards is essential for success in this role.
Selection Criteria
SC 1 Possession of current manual Class C Drivers licence or willingness and ability to attain one in Queensland.
SC 2 Experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities.
SC 3 Experience in and demonstrated skills in the operation & maintenance of relevant gardening equipment, lawnmowers, whipper snipper, blowers etc.
SC 4 Experience in the provision of yard services in an external environment with attention to detail.
SC 5 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to organise and coordinate activities.
Salary & Benefits
Salary details are competitive and in line with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Award 2020.
