Thiess is hiring Heavy Diesel Fitters for its off‐site rebuild facility at Mt Thorley. The role is a full‐time, dayshift Monday‐Friday position that does not require travel to a mine site. Candidates will assist with machine overhauls, component change‐outs, general repairs and servicing, and ensure equipment meets mine‐site and MDG15 compliance.
Responsibilities
* Assist with machine overhauls and component change‐outs.
* Carry out general repairs, servicing and maintenance of large‐scale mobile mining equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Liebherr, Komatsu).
* Mobilise and demobilise equipment from sites.
* Source technical information from reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM and computer‐based systems.
* Maintain valuable housekeeping standards.
* Assist with work order management and work semi‐autonomously when required.
* Contribute to a highly motivated team.
Qualifications
* Relevant trade certificate (Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Plant Mechanic or similar).
* ClassC driver's licence.
* Post‐trade experience working in the mining and heavy earth‐moving industry.
* Experience with Caterpillar off‐highway trucks, Caterpillar tracked and ancillary equipment, Komatsu tracked equipment, and on‐highway rigid trucks (e.g., Volvo, Hino).
* Experience in general maintenance, diagnostics, component change‐outs and servicing of heavy earth‐moving equipment.
* Demonstrated experience with Liebherr, Caterpillar and Komatsu (OEM experience preferred).
* Attention to detail, self‐motivation and a strong work ethic.
* Valid Australian citizenship or visa (or ability to obtain).
