About the Role
As a Customer Service Officer – Diversions based in Wangaratta, you will oversee and regulate the use of water by private diverters from both surface and subsurface sources. You will play a key role in ensuring that water usage aligns with regulations and will supervise and control how this resource is accessed and used.
Your role will involve providing expert information and advice on a wide range of water licensing matters, including groundwater and surface water issues. You will work closely with landholders, commercial water users, other authorities, and the wider community, helping them navigate licensing processes and ensuring that water use is sustainable and compliant with regulations.

What You'll Be Doing
* Manage water resource activities and licensing for surface and subsurface systems within your region.
* Undertake field inspections and prepare reports to support decision‑making and maintain accurate customer data.
* Oversee water meter installations, undertake meter maintenance and manage diversion programmes and projects.
* Liaise with customers and stakeholders to resolve issues and provide field‑based customer service.
Desired experience for success in this role
* Practical experience in rural water management or similar roles.
* Strong customer focus with a proven ability to engage with and support a range of stakeholders.
* Outstanding communication and report‑writing skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and closely with others (predominantly outdoors).
* Ability to multitask and prioritise activities.
