About the role:
In this role, you will undertake inspections, audits and repairs for our residential kerbside collection service, help educate residents about their waste services and support other community recycling initiatives as needed. The role supports the reduction in contamination of recycling and green waste bins in the provision of a quality, customer focused waste collection service.
Work type: Permanent Full Time
Classification: Band 2 $64,690 - $66,085 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertake the inspections of residential recycling and green waste bins for contamination, including follow up inspections.
* Provide friendly information and education to residents to help them understand their waste services.
* Undertake ad-hot bin lid repairs as directed.
* Record data relevant to bin audits as required.
* Address resident questions and concerns regarding waste when met during the course of regular duties.
* Support the Kerbside Audits Operations Officer with other community recycling initiatives as needed, including delivering educational material and collection and sorting of recyclables from community venues.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent customer service skills and/or inspection role experience.
Essential Experience:
* Excellent communication skills including the ability to gain cooperation from residents.
* Ability to cope with a physically demanding role and perform manual work including lifting of weights in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines.
* Ability to provide accurate documentation into and use a portable IT system in the field for checking of bin assigned to a property and serial number records.
* Ability to manage time and meet priorities established for allocated work.
* Ability to undertake repairs and maintenance skills to operate as a handyman.
* Ability to work early starts. The practical start will be at various locations or Council depots depending on the location of the inspections for the day.
* Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
* Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
