Position Overview
Peer Family Support Worker – Part time (4 days per week, 30.4 hours) – ongoing role in Mackay, Queensland. SCHADS Level 3 ($***** per hour + superannuation + salary packaging benefits).
Responsibilities
* Link participants with other community support services.
* Provide gentle psychoeducational tools and guidance to support a loved one during a crisis.
* Facilitate courageous conversations to help participants understand how they are feeling and define priorities in the recovery journey.
* Lead or participate in peer support groups, including educational sessions.
* Offer proactive follow-up, service navigation, and advocacy.
Qualifications
* Lived experience of supporting a loved one experiencing suicidal ideation, crisis and/or suicide attempts.
* Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in a support role for people with mental health conditions.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, able to interact effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds.
* Satisfactory Police Records Check.
* Blue Card – Working with Children Check.
* NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* NDIS Workers Orientation Module – Quality Safety and You (free online course).
* Right to Work within Australia.
* Compliance with comprehensive screening process prior to commencement.
