Early Childhood Educator for East Kimberley, WA
An exciting opportunity is available for an Early Childhood Educator to join a centre in the East Kimberley. This role is ideal for an educator who is keen to be mentored by a Room Leader, grow their skills, and make a meaningful difference in children's lives. You will be passionate about high-quality early learning, value strong relationships, and enjoy working in a culturally rich, community-connected environment.
You will hold a Certificate III and/or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (ACECQA-approved), or be actively working towards your Diploma. With guidance and mentoring from a Room Leader, this role offers a strong pathway to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and fast-track your career. Your positive, can-do attitude and commitment to the service's values, purpose, and community focus will be key to your success.
In this role, you will provide high-quality educational experiences and care for children, build positive relationships with children and families, and work in line with service policies, relevant regulations, and the National Quality Framework. You will support a safe, healthy, and hygienic environment and work collaboratively as part of a supportive team, contributing to the organisation's philosophy, Code of Ethics, and strategic intent within a respectful and connected community.
The service follows a play-based, child-led curriculum, with a strong belief that the environment is the "third teacher." Learning is inspired by nature and encourages curiosity, exploration, and imagination. Cultural perspectives are embedded throughout daily practice, with staff representing a range of cultural backgrounds and children supported to explore diversity through language, music, and art. The centre is a 40-place service and caters for children aged 0-5 years.
Strong community connections enrich the program, including weekly visits from the Mirima Dawang Woorlab-Gerring Language Centre, providing language learning opportunities for children. Additional community organisations regularly visit the service to support learning for children, families, and staff. The service also features a bush kinder located on-site, where natural vegetation, trees, and centre animals (including chickens, rabbits, and ducks) offer rich opportunities for outdoor learning and program extension.
Kununurra is a lively regional hub in the East Kimberley, offering essential services such as schools, medical facilities, supermarkets, cafes, sporting clubs, and regular flights. Nearby Lake Argyle provides endless opportunities for boating, fishing, camping, and freshwater swimming, and is home to tens of thousands of freshwater crocodiles. With dramatic landscapes, warm weather, and an active outdoor lifestyle, Kununurra offers a truly unique place to live and work.
An ongoing placement is preferred, however, the service is open to a minimum six-month placement for the right leader. There will also be an opportunity to speak with a current employee to help determine whether the organisation is the right fit for you.
