English Teacher - Location: Dandenong, Melbourne, VIC
We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative English teacher to join a highly regarded Catholic secondary school in Dandenong, Melbourne. This position can be either a contract role or full-time ongoing placement and involves teaching English to students in Years 9-11. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, student-centered learning experiences across Years 9-11, fostering literacy, critical thinking, and a love of literature. Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across English curriculum for Years 9–11.
* Support students in developing literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
* Foster a student-centered classroom environment that encourages creativity, discussion, and independent learning.
* Contribute to the development of innovative and engaging curriculum resources.
* Participate in pastoral care, extracurricular activities, and school events.
Preferred Specialisms
* English Literature
* English Language
* Creative Writing
* RE teaching experience highly regarded
* Other English-related disciplines will also be considered for strong candidates
Requirements
* A 3-year Bachelor's degree in Education or English
* 1 year PGCE or equivalent teacher training program to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Previous classroom experience preferred, ideally with exposure to secondary students across a range of year levels.
* Accredited with, or eligible for accreditation from Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
* Ability to legally work in Australia (visa requirements may apply).
* Strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and ability to deliver engaging, student-centered lessons.

* Adaptability: Willingness to adjust to a new curriculum, culture, and school environment.
* Demonstrated ability to teach and support student learning in English.
* Strong collaboration, communication, and organisational skills.
