Electorate Officer (Communications) – Grade 2 (part-time, 0.5FTE, 38 hours per week) Ella George, Member for Lara – Fixed-term 12 Month opportunity About the Role Electorate Officers play an important role in providing services to the Victorian community. Reporting to the Member of Parliament that nominates you, your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity. Confidentiality is also a key requirement when interacting with constituents and visitors to the office or in the community. This position has a strong communication focus and is ideal for a proactive communication professional who enjoys working across media, content creation and community engagement in a fast-paced environment. Based in the Member of Parliament's electorate office in Geelong, you will be responsible for delivering a broad range of communication activities that support the members' engagement with the community and key stakeholders. Develop, draft, and deliver a range of electorate communications to support the office of Ella George MP, including communication strategy, social media content, newsletters, media materials and other digital communications. Manage digital and direct communications to constituents. Support media engagement activities, including drafting media releases, speeches and other written materials for a range of audiences. Create engaging visual and written content including basic graphic design and multimedia content for digital platforms. Provide professional and timely assistance to constituents and stakeholders as required. Act as a first point of contact for communication- related enquiries within the electorate office. Party specific activity means any activity for the dominant purpose of directing how a person should vote at an election, by promoting or opposing the election of any candidate at the election; or a registered political party; or an elected member. About you Key attributes of responsiveness, effectiveness and accountability are precisely the values and behaviours the successful applicant will need to succeed. The role of an Electorate Officer requires: Strong knowledge of traditional and social media landscape with an ability to develop, plan, and deliver communication materials and manage communications end-to-end in a fast-paced environment. Sound written and communication skills with the ability to draft clear and engaging materials such as speeches, newsletters, correspondence, and other electorate-wide communications for a range of audiences. Experience producing and managing visual content, including for social media and other digital platforms. Strong initiative and organisational capability, with the ability to work autonomously, manage priorities and perform a broad range of duties, often to tight and demanding deadlines. Excellent computer skills with experience in MS suite of software and use and maintenance of online communications. Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government and peak organisations, local community organisations, and constituents. An understanding of the electorate, including its communities, demographics, priorities, and key issues. For more information about the role, please see attached position description. Salary Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2021. Grade 2: $83,469 per annum (pro-rata) plus 12% employer superannuation. This is a fixed-term 0.5 EFT part-time position, offering flexibility and an opportunity to work in a communications-focused role with a strong autonomy, variety and real impact at the local community level.
