Salary: $114,751–$136,143 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation.
We are seeking a Lecturer in Food Science and Technology to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and research within our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The role focuses on food science, processing, safety, and innovation, supporting curriculum design, laboratory learning, and applied research addressing critical challenges such as food security and sustainable production.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and develop evidence-based teaching in food science and technology, including practical and laboratory components.
- Undertake and publish research advancing knowledge in food science aligned with UniSC's strategic priorities.
- Engage with industry partners to initiate and deliver applied research projects and foster collaboration.
- Support curriculum development, course coordination, and student supervision to enhance student learning outcomes.
Qualifications
- Completion or near completion of a doctoral qualification in food science, technology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher, supported by student feedback and peer review.
- Evidence of research capability including publications, grant involvement, and supervision of research students.
- Membership and strong connections with relevant professional bodies and industry networks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to ongoing career development and academic leadership.
Desirable
- Experience in academic administration, such as course coordination.
- Expertise in food processing and ingredient innovation, with hands‐on experience in pilot-scale technologies and R&D facility activation.
- Track record in industry-facing translational research addressing challenges in product development, sustainability, and commercialisation.
- Technical expertise across diverse food sectors (e.g., horticulture, thermal processing, seafood, grains), with experience translating sectoral needs into collaborative research initiatives.
