We are seeking a Community Development Specialist to join our Housing and Homelessness Support Team.
This role focuses on empowering tenants through community engagement, promoting inclusion, and supporting capacity building.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships
* Provide a leading role in contributing to community development and tenant engagement across southern Tasmania
* Assist in the development and delivery of sustainable activities and programs across Southern Tasmania
* Provide support and guidance to groups and/or individuals in developing and implementing community building activities and ongoing programs
* Facilitate the integration of community development initiatives into existing programs and strategies – internal and external
* Collaborate with government; non-government agencies and business in the development and implementation of projects that address identified need
* Assist in the development and maintenance of data, and evaluation of service provision
* Develop progress reports to management and funding bodies as required
* Foster a continuous quality improvement approach to all work
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness. As a Community Development Specialist, you will be working closely with the State Manager and key partners to create vibrant, connected neighbourhoods that celebrate diversity and support tenant wellbeing.
Key Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications, and/or considerable demonstrable experience in community development, public relations, project management, events management, stakeholder/partnership development, and grant/funding applications and management
* A current Tasmanian driver's license and a willingness to travel to various sites around the greater Hobart areas
* Ability to travel intra and interstate
* Experience in working effectively and sensitively with a broad range of clients, including those with high support needs and challenging behaviours
* An understanding of the needs of older people and the services and groups within the broader Tasmania community, including Local Government and peak bodies
* Well-developed communications skills and the ability to engage sector partners and stakeholders at a service delivery level
* First Aid Certificate
