Job Overview
As an Education and Public Programs Officer, you will identify new or improved opportunities for engagement and collaboration across Deakin and its local communities, develop and deliver a variety of programs, services and activities to further the aims of the Art Collection and Galleries Unit, and promote it to a wide audience.
Responsibilities
* Plan, prioritise and deliver tours and public programs related to exhibitions, partnered organisations and the University Art Collection.
* Recognise barriers to achieving outcomes, find effective ways to address them and evaluate progress.
* Plan and oversee end‐to‐end projects and education programmes to deliver sustainable outcomes, value within constraints of time, cost and quality.
* Integrate perspectives from different areas of the University and build collaboration with faculties and other units.
* Coordinate and deliver exhibition tours, workshops and public programmes for students, teachers and community groups.
* Liaise with Deakin faculties, academics and external arts organisations to build partnerships and collaborative projects.
* Schedule social media content, promotional materials and audience engagement campaigns.
* Research opportunities to expand audience engagement and improve participation across programmes.
* Develop curriculum‐based exhibition resources and programmes.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in the visual arts, education or other relevant areas and/or extensive experience in a similar role, particularly related to audience development and interaction.
* Demonstrated experience working in an arts or cultural organisation in an audience development, education or public programmes role and managing or facilitating a range of community, educational and cultural programmes.
* Experience in the use of social media and online technology.
* Knowledge of the Victorian Secondary School Curriculum for the development of curriculum‐related programming (Desirable).
* Experience as a secondary school teacher highly regarded; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
