Job Description 
Police Communication Operators work within a dynamic environment, committed to providing superior, client-focused ‘Triple Zero Call Taking and Police Dispatch’ services across Queensland in response to community requests for assistance. 
Your Key Accountabilities 
- Manage calls for service in emergency, stressful, and challenging situations using negotiation and conflict management skills to de-escalate, calm callers, and gather vital information. 
- Apply the Queensland Police Service demand management framework (SOLVE) to request police resources for incident response. 
- Relay data accurately using voice communications equipment in a time-critical environment to assist responding police units. 
- Research police data management systems to gather information on relevant persons, vehicles, and locations. 
- Review incidents, assess tasks, and update incidents with relevant information swiftly and accurately. 
- Liaise with other service providers to allocate resources as required. 
- Adhere to information security policies to ensure confidentiality and proper use of systems. 
- Interpret and relay information related to legislation, policies, and procedures. 
- Contribute positively within a team to achieve service standards, including supporting and mentoring other operators. 
Role Requirements 
Mandatory: 
- Initial appointment is on a fixed-term, 6-month training program. Successful completion leads to ongoing employment. 
- Participate in a 24-hour, 7-day roster, working 36.25 hours per week with applicable shift penalties. 
- Undergo alcohol and/or drug testing as per policy. 
- Provide a keyboard skills certificate with a minimum of 40 words per minute at 98% accuracy. 
- Complete assessments including typing, call-taking simulation, and cognitive ability tests. 
- Undergo psychological assessment. 
- Provide an approved PEMS hearing test; regular hearing tests are required during employment.
