We're looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, kind and compassionate person to join our thriving specialist spine orthopaedic surgeon practice with locations in both Melbourne and Mornington.
Specialist surgical practice seeking experienced medical secretary/ receptionist 4-5 days per week.
Main consulting location in Mornington and travel required once a week to St Kilda consulting suites.
A car will be necessary and driving licence will be mandatory to drive into the city office on Wednesdays. The office is a modern building on St Kilda Road with underground parking on site.
Mon-Wed 8:30-4:30 Thurs-Fri 8:30-3:30pm
Clinics are always closed over Christmas Holidays for 2 weeks.
Role and Responsibilities
This position will suit an individual with experience in administration (preferably medical) that is professional, enthusiastic and is able to work independently and reliably.
Responsibilities will include:
· Answering of calls and incoming emails
· Patient scheduling and appointment coordination.
* Drafting, sending, filing of correspondence
· Direct liaison with the Specialist Surgeon
* Operating theatre allocations and bookings
* Liaising & co-ordinating with other specialists, GP's and hospitals
· Medicare and health fund billing/claiming, TAC and WorkCover.
· Management of correspondence, medical reports and emails
· Maintaining patient files accurately
* Sending recall letters and follow up on overdue reminders
* Preparing and sending patient instructions and theatre paper work
* Knowledge of MS Office Suite
Qualifications & experience
The successful candidate would ideally demonstrate the following:
· At least one year's experience in a similar role (ideally in surgical practice)
· Excellent work ethic and reliability.
· Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MacOS X operating system, Genie or Gentu (preferred but not essential)
· Organisational and communication skills, initiative, common sense and attention to detail is essential
· Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work independently
· Professional demeanour with patients and colleagues at all times
· Covering leave for other staff members
· Excellent personal presentation
