Job Description

Minor Hotels is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Maroochydore Head Office team on a Part Time 30 hours per week fixed-term contract. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely and compliant end-to-end payroll processing across a portfolio of properties, while providing high-level customer service and support to employees and leaders.

Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, legislative compliance and continuous process improvement within a high-volume, multi-site environment.

Responsibilities Include:

End-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll across a portfolio of properties
Managing Workers Compensation payments, Paid Parental Leave (Services Australia), and Child Support obligations (where applicable)
Maintaining payroll and leave systems, ensuring accurate employee records
Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and contracts, including overtime and shift allowances
Processing new starters, variations, increases, back pays and termination payments
Calculating and reconciling annual leave and long service leave accruals
Assisting with month-end reporting, payroll tax, reconciliations and General Ledger balancing
Preparing internal and statutory payroll reporting
Responding to payroll-related queries from employees and managers
Supporting payroll compliance, audits and ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

Minimum 3 years' experience in high-volume payroll processing (essential)
Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements
Experience with Workers Compensation (preferred but not essential)
Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and urgency
High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
