Templeton Built is a premium South Australian construction company delivering high-quality residential projects with a focus on design excellence and client satisfaction. As we continue our growth trajectory, we're seeking an Interior Designer to join our team and elevate the client experience while supporting our project delivery.
The Role:
This is not your typical interior design position. You'll be integral to our project delivery, working directly with clients, our operations team, and construction staff to ensure every project is delivered to exceptional standards - on time, on budget, and award-worthy.
Your Responsibilities:
Client & Design:
* Guide clients through interior selections, ensuring material compatibility and documenting choices
* Design custom joinery and interior solutions using CAD
* Create mood boards and material palettes for projects
* Develop premium upgrade packages that enhance client experience and project value
Project Delivery:
* Issue purchase orders to selection suppliers
* Manage variation control process - quote, document, and issue client-initiated changes
* Conduct site visits to verify installations and resolve finish-related issues
* Coordinate with trades on installation details and sequencing
* Quality control inspections for joinery, tiling, and finish work
Business Development & Marketing:
* Style completed projects for professional photography
* Manage social media content showcasing our projects
* Lead HIA awards submission process - from photography coordination to final submission
* Build and maintain supplier relationships
* Develop signature design packages that differentiate Templeton Built
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
* Qualified Interior Designer or equivalent experience
* Strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
* Understanding of construction processes and buildability
* Excellent client communication and relationship management
* Commercial awareness - ability to balance design aspiration with project budgets
* Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Highly Regarded:
* 3D visualization skills (SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, or similar) - training available for the right candidate
* Experience in residential construction or architectural practice
* Knowledge of Australian building codes and interior finish requirements
* Previous involvement in design awards or competitions
What We Offer:
* Base salary: $80,000 per annum
* Performance bonus structure: Up to $20,000+ annually
* 6-monthly bonuses based on client satisfaction scores, variation profitability (>25% GP), and selection timing excellence
* HIA Awards: $7,500 bonus for first award win, $2,500 for each additional award in the same year
* Genuine career development in a growing company
* Variety - see your designs through from concept to completion
* Company vehicle/allowance for site visits
* Supportive team environment with experienced construction professionals
Why This Role is Different:
You're not stuck in a studio churning out concepts that may never be built. You'll see real projects come to life, build construction knowledge that makes you invaluable, and have genuine ownership over award submissions that build both TB's reputation and your portfolio.
You'll work closely with our General Manager, Operations Manager, and Contracts Administrator, freeing them to focus on delivery while you ensure every project looks exceptional and clients are delighted with their selections.
