Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

At Western Diagnostic Pathology (a part of Healius), we all have one thing in common: we are passionate about making a difference to the health of Australians.

As a Pathology Collector, you will be at the forefront of this. You will be the friendly face behind the first hello, the warm welcome that will create a lasting impression, and the caring assurance to let our customers know that they are in good hands.

You will be able to provide quality patient care with the support and resources we provide, and build strong connections as an integral part of the local community.

You will be part of something special, joining our network of passionate pathology collectors and our mission to be the best pathology provider in Australia.

About Us

Healius has an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, servicing some of Australia's largest and most complex private and public hospitals and small Indigenous Australian communities. This means you will be working in a business large enough to offer you job stability & security, interstate mobility and the opportunity to fulfil your career ambitions.

Why You Will Like Working Here

As a casual Pathology Collector, we offer a range of roles that can fit into your schedule – whether that be study, parenting, or another job. With clinics in most suburbs, your commute will be short and you can spend more time with loved ones.

You will be supported and given the resources to thrive; this includes regular check‐ins from your manager and ongoing support.

We recognise your contribution and impact with our Reward & Recognition program, celebrating milestones (many collectors have worked with us for 5+, 10+ and even 20+ years!).

Looking to grow? We have clear career progression paths that include advancement to business managerial roles across broader areas, with ongoing education and support. Full‐time and part‐time roles are available if that's what you're looking for down the line.

What You Will Be Doing

As a casual Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will collect blood and coordinate specimen samples from patients, using your empathy and drive to deliver great customer service and quality healthcare. Your hours will vary and depend on the clinic's needs across a roster of Monday‐Friday, with the opportunity to work weekends.

Your key responsibilities will include
* Collecting samples (blood and non‐blood) with care and attention
* Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample
* Delivering documentation within strict turnaround times
* Preparing and packaging specimens for transport and testing
* Liaising with customers, clinic staff and couriers
What Type of Person Will Be Successful

To be successful, you will be an experienced Pathology Collector or have gained a Cert III and be looking to embark on a Pathology Collection career. A registered nurse looking to swap weekend & overnight work for regular daytime casual shifts may also apply.

Want to grow into this role with no prior experience? We can support you with fully paid training and mentoring. Bring the right attitude and interest and we will bring the rest.

Attributes & Skills
* A demonstrated experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy/Certificate III in Pathology Collection or a healthcare background
* Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a high level of empathy
* Organised, with strong time management and attention to detail
* Able to work autonomously, sometimes independently in a solo clinic
* Hold a valid driver's licence and flexibility to travel to multiple clinics
* Hold a working‐with‐children check or willing to obtain one
* Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work
* Ability to work across a range of different hours

A valid Working‐With‐Children Check (WWCC) is required for this role. You must either hold an existing WWCC or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.

We believe everyone leads, no matter what role they are in. Our ways of leading are the behaviours we expect our people to embody: Customer Focused, Accountable, Collaborative, Credible & Resourceful.

Vaccination Requirements
* Vaccine‐preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement
* Other vaccinations based on location and setting may be required
