Key Role Details
The successful candidate will teach QCE Senior Biology and junior secondary science, focusing on knowledge-rich learning and explicit instruction. This role requires planning clear sequences and assessments that build mastery over time, creating a calm and purposeful classroom culture, and using data to inform instruction.
Responsibilities:
* Teach QCE Senior Biology in line with QCAA requirements, including Endorsement and Confirmation processes
* Deliver structured junior secondary science using the Novare Science program across Biology, Physical, Earth and Life Science strands
* Plan and implement high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all students
* Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly
* Collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum and share best practices within a classical education framework
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Current or eligible Queensland College of Teachers registration
* Proven experience teaching QCE Senior Biology and junior secondary science
* Working knowledge of QCAA Endorsement and Confirmation processes
* Alignment with a teacher-led, explicit instruction model and knowledge-rich curriculum
* Strong behaviour management and classroom routines that maximise learning time
Favorable Qualifications:
* Experience with the Novare Science curriculum or similar knowledge-rich programs
* Familiarity with the liberal arts tradition and classical pedagogy
* Experience in classical education settings or interest in developing this expertise
