Kitchen Coordinator - Rockhampton Flexible School - Term-time, casual role- Services Staff, Level 4.1 casual - $44.88 per hour- Start date as soon as can be negotiated with successful applicantABOUT US Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd educates over 2,200 young people in 23 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 other schools across Australia) and serves young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses.
They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, in which the principles of operation (Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal) are embedded.
ABOUT THE ROLE The main role of the Kitchen Coordinator is to prepare and serve healthy meals to the young people who attend Rockhampton Flexible School.
Provide breakfast/morning tea/lunch to the school community in accordance with healthy eating guidelines for schools such as the Queensland Department of Education and Training SMART CHOICES guidelines Carry out tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen Preparation and provision of food, while maintaining the kitchen premises in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety standards Creation and planning of weekly healthy meal plans which meet budgetary requirements as advised by the Head of Campus Purchasing/ordering of ingredients and stock for weekly meal plan (online or in store) Provision of hospitality/meals for special events Maintain security over kitchen appliances and equipment (particularly knives) Ensure protective clothing/footwear is worn in the kitchen by staff and young people Setting up and cleaning up the kitchen and eating areas To view the Position Description, please click here.KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
Previous experience and/or certificate level qualifications in the hospitality industry (Chef or Cook desirable).
Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment.
Currently hold or ability to obtain a Food Handler Certificate and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (within first 3 months of employment) Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the preparation of meals in line with healthy eating guidelines (SMART CHOICES).
Knowledge of the use and care of equipment utilised in the preparation of school meals.
Ability to share knowledge in the application of safe food practices in the preparation, storage and provision of meals with staff and young people.
TAE qualification and ability to deliver cooking or hospitality certificate courses to young people would be desirable.
