Your new role Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Landscape Architect to play a pivotal role in various 2025/2026 projects, joining the Planning and Recreation team in the Open Space department within their City Assets directorate. To be successful in this role, you will have Landscape Architectural experience across the project life-cycle; Design to Construction, and strong leadership experience, have and want to lead and mentor two direct reports; Landscape Architects. 12 month contract, with possible permanent opportunity. Key Responsibilities Coordinating and overseeing the design and management of landscape architecture projects from concept development through construction. Provide leadership and mentoring to support the professional development of Landscape Architects in the team. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including planners, engineers, and environmental specialists, to integrate landscape architecture principles into broader urban planning initiatives. Conduct site assessments, analyse environmental conditions, and develop creative solutions that address ecological, social, and aesthetic considerations. Prepare comprehensive design documents, including plans, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, using industry-standard software. Engage with community members, stakeholders, and elected officials to solicit feedback, build consensus, and ensure that project goals align with community needs and priorities. What you'll need to succeed Minimum 5 years experience in a similar senior role (Australian experience a must) Proven track record in public landscape projects, including landscape design, community consultation and documentation, ideally government experience. Proven project management skills, including programming and coordination, budget control, preparation of tenders, contract administration, consultant briefs and grant applications experience. Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality presentations and drawings. Demonstrated sound understanding of environmental and sustainable design principles. Sound leadership skills, including the mentoring and coaching of staff. High-level written and verbal English communication skills as well as demonstrated skills in problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution. Demonstrated working knowledge of Local Government and Crown Land Legislation in relation to Parks and Open Space. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Suite. Current Class C Driving Licence, Must have.
