About the Role
This is an exciting new opportunity to work as a Speech Therapist in the Allied Health Service. This Speech Therapist position delivers evidence-based speech pathology services to children aged 0-18 at Parkerville Allied Health Services, addressing issues related to trauma, abuse, disability, and mental health.
Parkerville Children and Youth Care is establishing a new, purpose-driven allied health fee for service to meet the urgent needs of children and young people in our therapeutic programs. This new social enterprise has been designed to overcome significant barriers to accessing allied health services for children impacted by trauma, including long waitlists, a lack of specialist providers, and limited flexibility in service delivery.
This role is offered on a Permanent, Part-time basis, working 0.4FTE (2 days a week).
As a Speech Therapist, your duties and responsibilities will be:
•Work with the allied health team to identify and address developmental, social, and communication needs in children and youth, adapting to overcome participation barriers
•Deliver individualised, evidence-informed interventions in both one-on-one and group settings.
In order to be successful for this role, the applicant will have:
•Tertiary university qualifications in Speech Pathology, AHPRA registration and a practising member for Speech Pathology Australia with Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status.
•Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering speech therapy to children and youth (0-18), including assessment, intervention, and therapy across clinic, community, and school-based settings.
•Experience developing individualised therapy plans that are strengths-based, engaging, and evidence informed and include goal setting and report writing (NDIS & private).
•Experience working with children who have experienced complex trauma.
•Strong collaboration skills with families, educators, and professionals; experience delivering face-to-face and telehealth services, school screenings, and workshops.
•Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing clinical demands.
•Flexibility and be responsive to client needs, including working varied hours and covering service demands as required.
