Your opportunity
Join our WHS & Well-being Team in creating safer workplaces and supporting wellbeing across Mission Australia.
As a Work Health Safety Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring our people are safe, healthy, and supported every day. This position provides vital operational and administrative support to our WHS & Wellbeing team, contributing to projects, maintaining accurate records, and promoting a proactive safety culture. Your key responsibilities will be to:
* Assist the WHS & Wellbeing Team Leader with the execution of projects and plans.
* Provide administrative and operational support to the WHS team and Wellbeing Specialist, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
* Update and maintain records and databases in line with Mission Australia policy.
* Maintain and update the WHS intranet page as required.
* Report on compliance of incidents, hazards, and workplace inspections in the Risk and Incident Management System (RAISE).
* Assist in developing and reviewing safe work procedures and WHS policies in line with standards.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote a proactive safety culture.
Requirements for success
* Formal qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (Cert IV WHS highly desirable)
* Previous experience as a safety champion or Health and Safety Representative
* Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation
* Proven ability to provide administrative and project support
* Excellent planning, time management, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities effectively
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
