Coolah or Coonabarabran, New South Wales, is the perfect location for a detail-oriented finance professional seeking a challenging role in local government. Warrumbungle Shire Council is looking for an analytical Accountant to join its Finance team and contribute to the effective management of public resources.
About the Job
This diverse role offers the opportunity to prepare financial statements, manage reconciliations and journal entries, and support budget development and monitoring. You'll be part of our month-end and year-end reporting processes, maintaining the integrity of our general ledger and subsidiary systems. From lodging BAS and FBT returns to supporting audits and providing financial analysis, your expertise will drive informed decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare financial statements in accordance with Australian accounting standards
* Manage reconciliations and journal entries
* Support budget development and monitoring
* Maintain the integrity of our general ledger and subsidiary systems
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field are essential. You'll also need demonstrated experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance, as well as sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and public sector financial requirements. High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial management software are also required.
