Job Description
Summary of Primary Functions:
This position is responsible for assisting the Service Department with customer service needs, opening and closing work orders, activities in pre-delivery of new equipment, repair and reconditioning of new and used trade-in equipment, daily shop operations, field service functions, and vehicle delivery.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
* Handle phone calls, advise customers on technical problems, schedule customer service needs, plan jobs with work orders, specify job instructions, and identify customers and machines.
* Assist in appraising and quoting repair work, discussing service requirements with the service manager, including parts and labor.
* Assist in scheduling shop assignments, field service work, and truck requirements for pickup and delivery of equipment.
* Assist in processing warranty claims.
* Help establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules and deadlines.
* Assist in opening and closing work orders to ensure timely completion and meet company goals.
* Supervise all shop activities when the Service Manager is away from the branch.
Qualifications:
* Valid Driver's License
* Supervisor experience
Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent, with one year of post-high school education in heavy equipment or two years of mechanical experience as a service technician.
* A 2-year degree and familiarity with industrial equipment, such as construction or forestry equipment, is preferred.
* Highly developed organizational and communication skills.
* Broad-based computer skills.
Skills:
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, and the public.
Mathematical Skills:
* Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
* Apply basic algebra, statistics, and geometry concepts.
Reasoning Ability:
* Ability to solve practical problems and handle variables with limited standardization.
* Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
* Valid driver's license and Forklift Certification required.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally sit and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather. Noise level is usually quiet.
