This exciting and challenging maternity-relief position involves supporting children, young people and their families accessing the Diabetes & Endocrine Service. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams as well as with the broader Social Work Department. The Social Work Department is committed to providing best practice care and support to children, young people and their families as well to the ongoing development of a positive work place and learning culture. Applicants for this position will also have the opportunity to be considered for a candidate e-list that can be used for other temporary, full-time and part-time Senior Social Work positions within SCHN. What You'll Be Doing The primary focus of this position is to provide a comprehensive and specialist social work service to children, young people and their families referred from the relevant clinical area. This includes psychosocial assessments, specialist counselling, group work, psycho-education and advocacy. The social worker works as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. The senior social work is required to play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both social workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally. The social worker also provides a consultative role within their specialisation to key stakeholders. About You We’re looking for someone who: Eligibility for AASW membership with significant post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context. A well-developed knowledge of the psycho-social challenges facing families in the relevant clinical area and a sound knowledge of relevant community resources and support services available to the children and families. Significant post graduate experience in a variety of social work interventions/modalities including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, counselling, group work.
