Responsibilities
Mentoring is a one‑to‑one relationship between a young person and an adult focused on the young person's growth and development. It is different from counselling – it is less formal and more relational. Volunteers commit to meeting face‑to‑face with a young person approximately four hours a fortnight (flexible to be one day a month) with regular feedback to the case manager supporting the relationship.
Currently there is a list of young people aged between 12 and 20 awaiting matching with protected adult mentors. The mentoring match lasts a minimum of 12 months. The purpose of the program is to "equip" young people for change by providing a caring, interesting and positive adult volunteer mentor.
