About the roleFaucet Australia Pty Ltd, a leading manufacturer of high-quality plumbing fixtures, is seeking a talented Product Development Engineer to join our dynamic team.
As a full-time role performed from a new Melbourne office, you will play a pivotal part in driving the design and development of new and innovative architectural products that cater to the evolving needs of our customers both in Australia and internationally.What you'll be doingCollaborating with the product management and design teams to translate market insights and customer requirements into tangible product concepts.
This includes working with the team from the factory located in Kerang (Victoria) and remote/hybrid staff.Designing and developing new tapware, showers, and other architectural fixtures used in the bathroom and kitchen, including the creation of detailed technical specifications, prototypes, and engineering drawings.
Selecting suitable materials & manufacturing processes, nominating tolerances, etc.Assembling new prototypes, conducting rigorous testing and evaluation of product designs to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
This includes external testing of products at laboratories, and assisting with certification and compliance of products.Managing product development schedules by project (using Gantt charts, etc.)
and following up on tasks.Optimising product designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.Providing technical support and guidance to the production team to ensure seamless implementation of new products.Staying up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and regulations to inform the product development process.What we're looking forDegree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and a passion for intricate mechanisms.A minimum of 3 years of experience in product design and development, preferably within the plumbing or manufacturing industry.Proficient in CAD software for 3D modelling and technical drawings.
We are using OnShape software - training can be provided by us.Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to engage with in-house manufacturing engineers and suppliers to understand challenges and propose solutions.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Passion to go above and beyond.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical information effectively.
A monthly trip to the Kerang headquarters will be required for product training and collaboration with the production team.Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production constraints.
