Art Tutor
Contractor | Melbourne
At Art Academica, our classrooms don't feel like classrooms. They feel like studios filled with curious minds, paint on hands, and conversations that matter. We teach kids and teenagers how to think like artists — not just how to copy, but how to see, feel, and create.
We're looking for an Art Tutor who believes that art can change confidence, calm busy minds, and give our students a language beyond words.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead small-group art classes for kids aged 5-9, 9–14 and teenagers, guiding them through drawing, painting, illustration, and mixed media. You won't be rushing through worksheets — you'll be mentoring, encouraging, and helping students trust their creative voice.
Our lessons are structured but flexible. We care deeply about technique, but we care even more about curiosity.
Who you are
You're an artist first — and a person who genuinely enjoys being around young people. You're calm but confident, kind but clear. You know how to hold a room without raising your voice. You understand that creativity thrives in safe, respectful spaces.
You might be a practicing artist, illustrator, designer, or art graduate who loves sharing what you know and watching students grow.
You'll feel at home here if you:
* Love working with kids and teenagers
* Have experience teaching or mentoring young creatives
* Are reliable, organised, and emotionally intelligent
* Value communication and collaboration
* Believe art education should be meaningful
The practical bits
* Contractor role (ABN required)
* Working With Children Check (Victoria)
* Right to work in Australia (NZ citizens welcome)
* After-school and school-holiday availability
* Superannuation paid
Why Art Academica
We're not a chain. We're a community of artists and educators who care about quality teaching, creative freedom, and long-term impact. You'll be supported, respected, and trusted to bring your artistic voice into the studio.
If you're looking for a place where teaching feels purposeful — this might be it.
