About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to join a dynamic cross-functional digital team. This role will focus on designing, building, and optimising scalable data systems and pipelines to support complex digital and analytics use cases. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, reliable, and secure data solutions across modern cloud-based architectures. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to support batch and near real-time data processing. Develop and optimise data pipelines on GCP, leveraging services such as Cloud Run, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions. Implement event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub and related services to enable real-time data ingestion and processing. Work with Spark for large-scale data transformation and processing. Orchestrate workflows using tools such as Airflow / Cloud Composer. Integrate data from multiple internal and third-party systems, ensuring reliability and scalability. Ensure high data quality through validation, monitoring, and testing frameworks. Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated deployment practices. Apply data governance, security, and compliance best practices, including IAM and secrets management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, analytics) to deliver end-to-end data solutions. Skills & Experience 3–5 years of experience in data engineering Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation. Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud environments. Experience with GCP services (Cloud Run, Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub) Strong experience with Spark for distributed data processing. Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow / Cloud Composer). Solid understanding of data storage systems Familiarity with DevOps and security practices Experience designing event-driven and microservices-based architectures. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a Sydney-based hybrid role, and candidate must have full working rights.
