Technical Assistant (Specimen Reception Area)
Monday to Friday shifts (0700 - 2030) with participation in a weekend roster.
Responsibilities
- Data entry of pathology request forms using laboratory application software
- Sample handling and preparation for analysis for all sample types
- Answering phone enquiries, emails and in person enquiries
- Courier services with report delivery and sample pickup as required
- Maintain laboratory workplace safety
- Apply quality systems and continuous improvement processes
- Compliance with OH&S; standards
- Other administrative tasks as directed
Selection Criteria
Note: Although not essential, previous laboratory experience will be considered an advantage
- A keen eye for detail and exceptional accuracy in data transfer operations
- Well developed general administrative skills and computer literacy skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to act independently within established laboratory protocols demonstrating sound analytical judgement
- An understanding of and commitment to privacy and confidentiality requirements in a medical setting
