About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join our team at Carmichael Coal Mine. Reporting to and working closely with the CHPP Manager, this role is responsible for leading the safe, efficient and reliable execution of maintenance activities across the CHPP and associated fixed plant infrastructure.
This is a hands‐on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast‐paced operational environment and takes pride in driving plant reliability, team performance and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure maintenance strategies are effectively executed while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance and operational excellence.
Working a 9‐day fortnight, this position offers flights from Townsville or Rockhampton to site, with camp accommodation and meals provided whilst onsite.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the development and delivery of site maintenance strategies
* Managing planned maintenance schedules, including shutdowns, to improve plant reliability
* Driving shutdown efficiency and maintenance performance improvements
* Managing unplanned maintenance and breakdown response
* Working closely with key stakeholders on manning, planning, and scheduling upcoming works
* Preparing maintenance data and monthly client reports
* Supporting maintenance budgeting and forecast planning
* Managing contractors to deliver work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
* Leading and mentoring mixed‐trade maintenance crews
* Leading and contributing to root cause analysis for maintenance‐related failures
* Leading and mentoring teams to build a strong, positive maintenance culture
* Identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives in safety, reliability, and cost efficiency
* Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture across all maintenance activities
Qualifications
* Trade qualification and/or relevant tertiary qualifications in a mechanical or electrical discipline
* Previous experience in a similar leadership role within mining or fixed plant operations
* Strong knowledge of maintenance execution, shutdown planning, reliability, and lifecycle management
* The ability to lead teams in high‐pressure operational environments while maintaining strong safety and governance standards
* Experience coordinating contractors, labour resources, and maintenance priorities across multiple work fronts
* Current G1, G8, G9 / G2 Supervisor qualifications (formerly S1, S2, S3)
* Experience using Microsoft Project or similar maintenance planning tools (highly regarded)
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (highly regarded)
* Current Queensland Coal Board Medical and Standard 11
* A valid Australian driver's licence
