Grade: State Inspector, Inspector Consent Award

Salary Range: $152,397 - $153,827 + superannuation

Location: Parramatta

About the team

SafeWork NSW Construction directorate has a strategic approach to supporting a safe, healthy and productive construction industry in NSW. Construction provides a strong and consistent focus on building industry capability through strategic stakeholder engagement, evidence and risk-based harm prevention initiatives, and proportionate and targeted regulator response to construction incidents and requests for service

Ideal Candidate

This opportunity would suit someone with the ability to take a leadership role for a high functioning operational unit, support the activities of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the implementation of front-line services and programs supporting health, safety and return to work strategic direction in the dynamic NSW Construction sector.

* An Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection)
* Superior knowledge and experience to provide expert information and advice, education and compliance services in return to work, injury management, occupational rehabilitation or workers compensation case management
* Strong communication skills to proactively engage and influence key industry stakeholders in relation to workplace health and safety

Key capabilities:

* Ability to act as a professional role model for colleagues, set high personal goals and take pride in their achievement
* Ability to translate technical and complex information concisely for diverse audiences
* Ability to anticipate, identify and address issues and potential problems and select the most effective solutions from a range of options
* Participate in and contribute to team/unit initiatives to resolve common issues or barriers to effectiveness
* Establish performance outcomes and measures for key project goals, and define monitoring, reporting and communication requirements
* Monitor the completion of project milestones against goals and initiate amendments where necessary
* More importantly, you will contribute to the SafeWork's focus on helping business prevent harm by continuing efforts to build a safety culture across NSW.

* Work a 38-hour working week, including some weekends and participate in the After-Hours Emergency Response Service
* Receive an attractive salary package along with the required tools of the trade, including a vehicle with access to private use (currently at a cost of approximately $227 per fortnight)
* Be able to access flexible working conditions within operational requirements

Essential requirements

* Ability to travel, work remotely and out of usual business hours
* Hold a NSW 'C' class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment
* Satisfactory criminal record check
* Satisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role
* Undertake the 12-month New Inspector Training Program (NITP) to obtain Advanced Diploma in Government (Workplace Inspection). This intensive program is delivered by our Registered Training Organisation and combines mandatory components of induction, class training, online learning, completion of set assessments and tasks, and extensive on-the-job field training with regular travel throughout NSW.
