Role Overview
We're looking for a skilled Information & Privacy Officer to join a collaborative and purpose-driven team, where your expertise will help support transparent, compliant, and high-quality information management practices.
About the Role
In this role, you will work with limited supervision to manage Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, subpoenas, and other formal information requests within strict legislative timeframes. You'll provide expert advice across the organisation on privacy and information release obligations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies.
This is a dynamic position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can balance competing priorities, and enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess and determine access to information in line with FOI and relevant legislation
* Manage FOI requests, subpoenas, warrants, and statutory notices within required timeframes
* Liaise with internal teams, legal representatives, and external stakeholders including applicants and insurers
* Handle sensitive and high-profile information requests with professionalism and sound judgement
* Conduct thorough searches across systems and records to support information requests
* Prepare submissions and responses for regulatory bodies and support legal proceedings where required
* Investigate and manage privacy incidents and breaches in line with legal obligations
* Contribute to policy development, process improvement, and privacy awareness initiatives
* Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on information release and privacy matters
About You
* Experience making decisions within a legislative or regulatory framework
* Knowledge of FOI, privacy, or health records legislation (highly regarded)
* Experience in FOI request processing or a legal/government environment (desirable)
* Strong time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
* Sound judgement and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
* A collaborative mindset with the confidence to engage with diverse stakeholders
