About the Business Unit: Fines and Enforcement Services (FES) is a business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety's Courts, Civil and Criminal Law group. FES is responsible for monitoring and managing the end-to-end fines system in Victoria and for delivering the functions of Director, Fines Victoria and the Sheriff of Victoria. About the Role: The role, Senior Policy Officer, is within the FES Policy and Legislation team, responsible for providing strategic advice to the government, departmental executives, and stakeholders on complex policy, legislative and operational issues related to the Victorian fines and enforcement system. Some of your duties will include: Providing high-quality strategic policy advice to departmental executives, the government, and key stakeholders on complex legal, policy, and operational issues related to fines and enforcement services Leading statutory and operational policy reform projects from inception to implementation Delivering timely and high-quality material to support machinery of government, Cabinet and Parliamentary processes, including briefings, correspondence, PPQs, and FOI responses. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Demonstrated experience in developing policy advice, conducting research, and contributing to significant projects Demonstrated experience in providing advice on criminal law, administrative law, statutory decision-making and interpretation, and human rights Knowledge of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes and government decision-making processes Understanding of the functions and operations of, and legislation relevant to, FES.
