Overview
We are seeking a Dell Networking Subject Matter Expert with robust experience in Backup and Disaster Recovery to support a short-term engagement with a leading energy provider.
Location: Remote
Client: Leading Energy Provider
Start Date: ASAP (based on candidate availability)
Responsibilities
- Configuration: Conduct a full review of NetWorker configuration, including backup job setup.
- Sizing: Analyze backup storage space, compute resources (NetWorker server, NMC, storage nodes, vProxies), client resources, and network performance.
- Policies & Workflows: Review client configuration, backup groups, policies, schedules, retention, datasets, and bootstrap backups.
- Resilience & DR: Assess high availability, single points of failure, secondary backup copies, and redundancy for disaster recovery scenarios.
- Performance: Analyze backup job types and performance metrics.
- Security: Ensure backup immutability and encryption. Harden product security (authentication, logging, auditing, port access).
- Lifecycle Management: Verify patch levels and product upgrade compatibility (Servers, Clients, Data Domain).
- Operations: Review current monitoring, reporting, notifications, and deduplication rates.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dell NetWorker SME.
- Hands-on experience with Backup & Disaster Recovery in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of configuration, sizing, DR planning, performance tuning, and security hardening.
- Ability to work independently and deliver in a short-term remote engagement.
