Associate Director - Inhouse Legal and Co Sec at Taylor Root
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for a legal counsel to join the legal team of a large not-for profit in the education sector, during a period of significant expansion.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing pragmatic and business-focused solutions to legal issues
* Advising the Executive Leadership Team, senior system and school leadership and Board on legal and privacy matters
* Drafting and reviewing contracts as well as providing contract-specific and general corporate and commercial advice
* Supporting Principals and other leaders in legal issues arising from operation matters, including compliance with court orders
* Providing legal input on strategic, governance and administrative matters and sourcing and managing relationships with external providers where external expertise is required
Ideal Candidate
* Admitted to practice in Australia or New Zealand
* 3-6 years PAE with a reputable firm and/or in house
* Experience in general commercial law is essential, privacy law experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided
* Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
* Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work confidently with people at all levels within the business
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
