Urgent requirement of Technical Engineering Manager - Contract - Sydney
Requirements
* Minimum of 10–15 years in software engineering and technology delivery.
* 8–10 years leading enterprise‐scale engineering teams as a Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, or equivalent role.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute directly to design, code reviews, complex problem resolution, and architecture alignment.
* Distributed Team Management: Proven track record of leading cross‐functional engineering squads, mentoring senior developers, and driving a culture of high engineering standards. Strong experience coordinating delivery across onsite and offshore teams, managing dependencies, priorities, and communication flows.
* Executive Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate architectural vision, technical roadmaps, and project risks to senior boards and executive stakeholders, translating complex technical decisions into business value.
Core Responsibilities & Technical Matching
* Engineering a Microservices‐based application architecture using .NET 10andDapr, with core Insurance domains (Policy, Claims, Finance).
* Lead hands‐on development and delivery of microservices‐based systems using .NET 10 and Dapr, ensuring adherence to domain‐driven design and cloud‐native principles.
* Guide teams on service decomposition, API design, sidecar patterns, and inter‐service communication practices.
* Proxy experience with Java Spring Boot or Go‐based modular micro services is applicable.
* Guide implementation of durable workflows and long‐running business processes using platforms such as Temporal.io or Azure Durable Functions.
* Ensure resiliency patterns, retries, and compensating transactions are applied consistently across services.
* Oversee hands‐on implementation of asynchronous messaging and integration patterns using Azure Service Bus.
* Ensure correct usage of transactional outbox patterns and eventual consistency models across distributed services.
* Review and approve integration designs and implementation approaches.
* Establish and enforce coding standards, automated testing practices, and peer review processes.
* Work closely with DevOps teams to ensure CI/CD pipelines, environment governance, and release practices support reliable delivery.
* Monitor delivery metrics, technical debt, and operational readiness.
* Insurance Domain Experience: Strong understanding of insurance systems, policy lifecycle, claims, and financial processing.
* Legacy Modernisation: Experience delivering incremental modernisation using strangler patterns and coexistence models.
* Cloud Platforms: Strong hands‐on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise environments.
* Agile Delivery: Proven experience executing large‐scale agile delivery with distributed teams.
